Namibia has been awarded the “Destination of Effective Publicity for Culture and Tourism 2025” at the prestigious Meadin International Tourism Destination (MITD) Awards in China.
Hosted by the Meadin Research Institute and Meadin.com, the MITD Awards recognise global destinations that excel in promoting their culture and tourism offerings to the Chinese travel market. The awards are based on four key evaluation pillars — engagement, experience, ecosystem, and sustainability.
According to Namibia Tourism Board (NTB) spokesperson Flora Quest, the award selection process involves data screening, expert evaluation, and public voting by Chinese high-net-worth travellers, making it one of China’s most comprehensive recognitions of tourism excellence.
Quest said the accolade highlights Namibia’s growing visibility and innovative communication strategies that have successfully captured the attention of Chinese travellers. “The award underscores NTB’s commitment to promoting Namibia’s diverse cultural heritage, scenic beauty, and sustainable tourism initiatives through dynamic and relatable storytelling tailored to the Chinese audience,” she added.
The official award ceremony will take place during the Meadin Cultural and Tourism Festival in Hangzhou, China, from 20 to 21 November, where an NTB delegation will receive the accolade on behalf of the country.
NTB CEO Sebulon Chicalu said the recognition is a testament to Namibia’s strengthened efforts to position itself as a preferred destination in Asia, particularly within the fast-growing Chinese market.
“This global recognition reflects our commitment to deepening destination marketing partnerships, embracing digital innovation, and promoting responsible travel experiences that celebrate Namibia’s unique natural and cultural identity,” Chicalu said.
Namibia’s success at the MITD Awards reaffirms the country’s reputation as a world-class tourism destination — one that balances innovation with authenticity, while continuing to captivate travellers from across the globe.
