NTB establishes Namibian as destination in Asia

The Namibia Tourism Board (NTB) took a strategic step in establishing Namibia as a must-visit destination for Asian travellers.

NTB and the Association of Indonesian Tours and Travel Agencies (ASITA) Bali Regional last week signed an agreement to foster stronger collaboration and promote mutual tourism growth between Namibia and Indonesia.

NTB stated in a press release that the agreement signed in Nusa Dua, Bali, marks a significant milestone in the growing ties between the two regions.

It said that rooted in shared cultural values, friendship, and economic interests, the agreement aims to pave the way for long-term cooperation that enhances tourism flow, market presence, and sustainable growth in both destinations.

Key pillars of the agreement include joint tourism promotion.

NTB said that the parties will organise familiarization trips, business-to-business meetings, and collaborative workshops aimed at boosting visibility and interest in both destinations.

Furthermore, media delegations and social media influencers will be exchanged to generate greater awareness and fresh narratives around each country's tourism offerings.

The statement said that NTB and ASITA Bali will exchange key data, reports, and promotional materials to support tourism development and planning.

“Both parties aim to create collaborative tour packages that combine unique experiences from Namibia and Bali, enhancing cross-cultural travel opportunities.”

NTB said that in line with global tourism trends, the agreement encourages initiatives that promote environmental and community engagement.

“Tourism stakeholders and businesses will be

encouraged to participate in exhibitions, conferences, and festivals hosted in both

Countries.”

It added that training programs and knowledge-sharing sessions led by tourism professionals will be supported under the partnership.

According to NTB, this agreement is designed to be flexible, allowing for additional areas of cooperation to be added upon mutual agreement. It imposes no financial obligations in its current form and will remain in effect until amended or terminated by either Party.

NTB CEO Sebulon Chicalu said that this partnership is a strategic step forward in diversifying their markets and establishing Namibia as a must-visit destination for Asian travellers.

“We are excited about the opportunity to share our landscapes, heritage, and hospitality with Bali’s thriving travel market. The signing of this agreement highlights the growing recognition of tourism as a vehicle for economic development and cultural diplomacy between Namibia and Indonesia. It reflects the shared commitment of both organizations to create value through collaboration, innovation, and sustainable tourism growth.”
