The Namibia Tourism Board made a strong statement at Africa’s Travel Indaba 2026 in Durban, unveiling an enhanced destination showcase and announcing plans for a new luxury tourism expo to elevate Namibia’s position in the high-end travel market.
Held from 11 to 14 May at the Durban International Convention Centre in Durban, Africa’s Travel Indaba remains one of the continent’s leading tourism trade exhibitions, drawing international buyers, media and tourism stakeholders from across the globe.
During the event, tourism minister Indileni Daniel officially announced the launch of the Namibia Luxury Travel Market, a premier tourism expo scheduled to take place from 8 to 10 December.
The initiative is expected to create a dedicated platform for luxury tourism experiences in Namibia while attracting investment into the country’s growing high-end travel sector.
According to a statement by NTB, the new expo forms part of broader efforts to strengthen Namibia’s tourism offering and position the country as a premier sustainable luxury destination in Africa.
At this year’s Indaba, NTB exhibited alongside 22 Namibian tourism operators and MSMEs, including lodges, tour operators, airlines and tourism service providers.
NTB said that the collective showcase highlighted Namibia’s diverse travel experiences, from wildlife and conservation tourism to cultural heritage and luxury desert escapes.
It added that the Namibian pavilion was designed to provide an immersive destination experience aimed at attracting international travel buyers and strengthening business partnerships in key tourism markets.
NTB said participation at the trade platform also offered an important opportunity to engage global media and influencers in promoting Destination Namibia to wider audiences.
According to NTB, Namibia continues to market itself as a safe, peaceful and sustainable tourism destination, known for its vast landscapes, rich cultural diversity and world-class wildlife experiences.
Through its participation at Africa’s Travel Indaba 2026, NTB reaffirmed its commitment to driving tourism growth, supporting local tourism enterprises and increasing Namibia’s visibility on the international tourism stage.
The tourism sector remains a critical contributor to Namibia’s economy, employment creation and foreign exchange earnings, with authorities continuing to prioritise international marketing and investment promotion initiatives.
