Lake Grappa Guest Farm: A peaceful retreat in Kakamas

Situated on the outskirts of Kakamas in South Africa’s Green Kalahari, Lake Grappa Guest Farm offers a quiet retreat set among vineyards and open landscapes.

Positioned alongside an 800-metre man-made lake, the property is defined by its natural setting. Evenings are a particular highlight, with sunset light reflecting across the water and surrounding farmland.

Accommodation ranges from self-catering rooms to larger family chalets. Units are equipped with kitchenettes, air conditioning and private patios, allowing guests a degree of independence during their stay.

A range of activities is available on site, including fishing and paddling on the lake, as well as walking and birdwatching in the surrounding area. Seasonal grape picking offers visitors insight into the region’s agricultural practices.

The guest farm is located about 20 kilometres from Augrabies Falls National Park, one of the Northern Cape’s main attractions, known for its dramatic waterfalls and hiking routes. The nearby Orange River also provides opportunities for outdoor activities, including canoeing and 4x4 excursions.

An on-site restaurant and bar serve a selection of meals, with a focus on local produce. Guests can also make use of outdoor braai facilities.

Lake Grappa Guest Farm is often used as a stopover for travellers passing through the Northern Cape, but also caters for those seeking a longer stay in a quieter rural setting.
