ITB Berlin 2026 marks 60 years of shaping the future of global travel

The ITB Berlin, widely recognised as the world’s leading business-to-business travel trade show, took place in Berlin, Germany, this week, marking the 60th anniversary of the event since its inauguration in 1966.

This edition drew nearly 6 000 exhibitors from more than 160 countries, reaffirming ITB Berlin’s central role as the foremost global platform for networking, market insights and strategic dialogue in the travel and tourism industry.

Namibia’s 22 exhibitors attracted keen interest from tour operators, travel media and buyers eager to learn more about the country’s vast landscapes, conservation success stories and authentic cultural experiences.

Angola was the official host country for ITB 2026, opening the fair with an energetic gala celebration that showcased the country’s cultural heritage, music, dance and tourism potential under the theme “The Rhythm of Life”. Such national site presentations offer participating destinations a powerful stage to elevate their international profiles and business opportunities.

More than 17 thematic tracks and hundreds of sessions explored topics such as sustainability, climate resilience, geopolitics, digitalisation and future travel trends, with contributions from senior industry figures, policymakers and thought leaders.

Innovation and technology were highlighted, including AI-enabled services such as digital networking tools and advanced matchmaking platforms designed to enhance efficiency for exhibitors and buyers. Social and cultural events - from street food markets to networking evenings - complemented the commercial agenda, fostering community engagement and creative exchange.

Tourismus and Enjoy Travel, affiliates of Network Media Hub, also attended the event, bringing audiences the latest updates, insights and behind-the-scenes moments from the trade floor.
